Hotei Kantoueteizu" (framed) depicts Hotei looking down at two chickens glaring at each other, ready to pounce on each other. The expression on his face seems at first glance to be smiling, but it has a sternness that makes it difficult for people to approach. This work, which has been described as "Hotei, the Absolute, gazing at a world of constant strife," is a masterpiece with a tranquil yet tense atmosphere filled with the sharp temperament typical of Musashi.

Musashi Miyamoto demonstrated his extraordinary talent not only in swordsmanship, but also in calligraphy, writing, painting, and sculpture.
