Nagae Keishu: Nagae Keishu was blessed with a talent for painting from an early age, and was selected for various exhibitions from his school days. After graduating from high school, he studied under Momoyuki Murauchi, a Japanese-style painter, and gained recognition for his painting style that incorporates modern sensibilities into traditional Japanese painting. He is a member of the Sanbikai.

A husband-and-wife crane and a long-jawed tortoise proudly nestle together, their pure-white wings also proud of themselves. The pine, bamboo, and plum, the auspicious symbols of the three friends of the cold season, add to the splendor of the composition, which expresses gratitude to the light of the rising sun, the source of the quick creation of all things.
